Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Church continues to be alive and active, but our buildings must close

We are seeing a huge increase in the number of people falling sick with COVID-19. We must distance ourselves from one another and prevent the spread of infection in order to save lives.

Therefore, as well as public worship being suspended, this and all church buildings in the Church of England are now closed.

Our worship of God and our care for each other continue but cannot be done in this building.

Our website contains details of how to join others online for prayer, worship, study, and community life.

The vicar of this church (Revd Dr David Mundy) can be contacted in an emergency by telephoning 01457 856554
or emailing

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength . . . Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

To protect the vulnerable amongst us, please do not leave your home except for essential trips.

Welcome to Glossop Parish Church
in the  Diocese of Derby    01457 856554

We are a welcoming inclusive and vibrant church in the catholic tradition of the Church of England and set in the historic village of Old Glossop on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District. We seek to follow Jesus' way of prayer, compassion and justice and celebrate the different cycles and seasons of the church’s year.

We are active in our community and try to live out our faith and values in all aspects of our lives and occupations. We seek to work in support of and in partnership with other groups such as schools, uniformed organisations, community and arts groups.

Past Case Review 2 The National Church has given a commitment to undertake a new Past Cases Review (PCR2) which will not
only look at all types of harm, both to children and or adults, but will probe much deeper in records or concerns held in parishes, some of which may not have been reported to the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser. PCR2 is an independent review to look at all safeguarding files, historic and current for both adults and children, including all Church officers. The review aims to ensure that wherever concerns have been raised that the cases have been handled appropriately. Your vicar (or church warden if in Interregnum) will now have received a letter from +Libby outlining what is required to enable this significant piece of work to be completed. More information about PCR2 is on the noticeboard by the South Porch and on the church website.

Individual survivors who wish to make representations to the PCR2 process in the Diocese of Derby or who need to come forward with information or make any disclosures regarding church related abuse are encouraged to make direct contact with the Safeguarding Team 01332 388678. However, recognising that this may not feel safe for those with experience of abuse from within the church, a dedicated national helpline - 0800 80 20 20 - operated independently from the church, by the NSPCC - was set up in September 2019 and remains available.
